Calvert - Know What You Own

One of the most common questions regarding the Financial Integrity Program is how, in this day and age, to invest according to one's values. There are mutual funds that are screened for corporate responsibility, but often people with retirement programs through work don't have those options. However, even if you don't have the opportunity to use options like Calvert Investment Funds, you can still use their website to check out the options you DO have. Know What You Own is a Calvert service that will show you if the fund meets Calvert's standards -- perhaps a good start for figuring out if it meets YOUR standards.

Calvert is one of the largest sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) companies in the United States, offering equity, bond, cash, and asset allocation products screened by environmental, social, and corporate governance criteria. The Calvert Social Index is an unmanaged index that measures the performance of large, U.S.-based sustainable and responsible companies. In 2004, Calvert, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Fund for Women, developed the first global voluntary code of conduct guiding business on how to empower, advance, and invest in women worldwide.

The Calvert Social Investment Foundation is a separate 501(c)3 non-profit that works to raise investment capital for nonprofit organizations, microfinance institutions, and social enterprises.
